Hallmark

“Maybe sometime?” the woman joked.
“And the baby?” the man beside her pointed to her rounded stomach.
She glared at him. “I’m kidding.”
The man smiled. “Come here.”
The woman walked nearer and closed the distance between them with a sigh. The man welcomed his wife with his huge arms. It wrapped around her as if she was about to live him, and never would be back.
“I know you’re kidding,” the man whispered on her right ear.
For seconds, there was nothing but silence- The two of them against the green background of love and beauty, insurmountable by any hallmark image.
The man pulled the woman tighter, he was almost weeping.
“Dad,” the woman uttered, “I…I can’t breathe.”
But the man gripped her body tighter. He held her head down so her face would be fully covered by his chest.
“Dad…” Her voice was already muffled inside him. But he couldn’t hear.
He pulled her tighter. He felt her feet kicking on the gravel under them, targeting for his invisible knees. But he only managed to dodged it away, like he was dancing.
The woman tried hard to pull him away but his arms were bigger and stronger. There was a suppressed abruptness. Seconds later, there was no movement. The woman was dead.
“If I wouldn’t have you forever, no one would,” he said, staring down into his wife’s wet eyes.
